Steve Martin: Never Forget 1/15

Steve Martin was on Letterman last night, fresh off his stint of Saturday Night Live (this Pink Panther 2 tour must be worse for him than the Crystal Skull one was for Harrison Ford), cracking jokes about Flight 1549 that crashed into the Hudson River. It's weird (not that weird) how much the death toll makes a big difference on the number of jokes you are allowed to tell on air about a recent plane crash. Video, after the jump.

To be fair, do you know how LONG comedians have been waiting to tell plane crash jokes again? Like seven and a half years now.

Love it… I laugh my ass off on the Hudson river plane "water landing" scenario.

Calling the pilot a hero is bogus! The man did his job. Do you also call the electrician that are fixing the power lines in Kentucky because of ice storms "heroes?"

FIxing@Mixahman: @Mixahman: FIxing a broken cable , which even a moron can do, is slightly less difficult that landing a jet on water at 400 miles an hour.
But, then you won't be figuring that out any time soon.

Red, I don't think Steve Martin dated Anne Heche (I've been wrong before on these things, though). Mix, the only thing to support your statement is that, if you pick any other flight crew off the US Airways staff, you're supposed to get the same result in that situation. Still I bet that water landing was something only a few in the world could pull off. First time it's been done the way intended: everyone survives. And, Nick, that plane's speed was much closer to normal landing speed: 180 MPH. At 400, it would have broken up no matter what.
