Crazy man, sort of good actor Dennis Leary was on the Daily Show last night, trying to excuse himself for some comments made in his latest book, where he called kids diagnosed with autism "stupid" and "lazy."
Leary wants people to know: he was just talking about kids whose parents pretend they have autism. And all those Internet trolls self-diagnosing themselves with Asperger's.

Know what sucks about Madonna breaking news of her (hopefully going to be messy!) divorce on a Wednesday? That not only did she usurp the printing schedule for this week's tabloids, but she forced them into running benign items about her that depicted her as a great mom (much to Guy Ritchie's dismay). Except this spread in this week's People, which shows just how much daughter Lourdes is adopting mom's style, looks quite familiar. CONTINUED »

What in the hell compelled comedian / Rescue Me star Dennis Leary to start taking potshots at kids with autism, calling them stupid and lazy? Is he hoping Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey will invite him into a hate-fuck three-way?
Bad career move, dude, who comes out against children with a disease?

Even if autism is a "fraud, a racket," and any kid diagnosed with it is just "a brat who hasn’t been told to cut the act out," it is not okay to say such things! Just look what happened to Tom Cruise when he called psychology a big prank — he was riiiidiculed.
Then again, First Amendment obscenity law loophole Michael Savage has built his career on saying un-P.C. things. But this time, his attack on autism — which effects, like, 1 in 3 kids, depending on something we misheard Jenny McCarthy say — might have actual ramifications. Namely, big advertiser AFLAC has dropped its marketing from his radio show after Savage refused to apologize for his remarks, and the seven-station Super Talk Mississippi radio network has dropped his show.
Despite his show being carried by some 350 radio stations, all this trouble started only when Media Matters for America blasted its member list with news of Savage's comments. In return, Savage described Media Matters as "the homosexual mafia group." And it's probably run by Jews, too!

Just after getting slammed by the Parents Television Council for the serial killer-championing series Dexter, CBS is getting crap from autism advocacy group Autism United for airing a scene from Big Brother 9 that has contestant Adam calling people with autism, who he supposedly works with, "retards."
CBS is accused of airing the scene in a shameless attempt at generating publicity and, thus, ratings. CBS says not so, and that the reaction from fellow contestant Sheila – who told him, "Don't call them that" – balanced the situation.
And as we all know, it's wise to trust CBS's sense of decency.
