In just two days, you'll witness MTV's first experiment with broadcasting the Movie Awards live — and then never again! Well, we forget what they told us about Sunday's broadcast, but from what we recall, they're only going to make the broadcast available online, all in hopes of generating something called "ratings" for Sunday night's event.

So fine, we're not going to be getting our hands on a giftbag this weekend at Saturday's MTV Movie Awards, but a few (hundred?) celebs will. In what's being billed as their "most lavish gift baskets" (baskets, not bags), MTV will be handing out swag like Givenchy watches and Fendi eyewear by the bushel — you know, instead of feeding the hungry in Benin or distributing condoms in Angola.
Truth be told, we actually can't find any single item worth over $2,000 (how much does a six month gym membership go for these days?). And who wants a damn Superman doll? No $15,000 grills. No outrageous getaways (a 2-day spa trip doesn't count). Just about the only thing we'd use? The 12-month Netflix membership.
