We always knew there was more room in the media gossip niche, and now, we have a new addition to the blog family. Introducing Mastheads.org. (You know the "org" makes it feel more official.) Tracking comings and goings of magazine staffers, the site was initially intended as a tool for freelancers … but will surely be used as a bible by gossips in no time. Think Ed2010 for grown-ups.
One example of how Mastheads monitors the continuously revolving doors of the mag biz.
May 30th, 2006: A summer stew is a-brewin' over at Harper's Bazaar and Mastheads.org has the scoop for you… Adam Bell (former Men's Journal managing editor) replaces Erik Meers as managing editor at Bazaar, while Erik takes over the new managing ed reins at GQ. Other promotions and new hires in the Bazaar world… David Thielebeule remains a Market Assistant, but will now assist the Market Director. The new Market Assistant is Courtney Kryston (yet to be formally announced!). Neha Gandhi replaces Claire Baldwin as Online Editor, while Tory Kirby ditches her position as Beauty Editor for the same gig at Allure. Stacey Delorenzo waves goodbye as Photo Director for a new seat with the photo department at Glamour.
It's so fun, it's like playing Dominos! And of course, the real benefit of this service, obviously, is that you no longer need to buy a copy of the magazine where you're interviewing.
