NPR Bryant Park Project anchor Alison Stewart met her now-husband Bill Wolff back when she worked as a daytime anchor at MSNBC. Wolff, the former primetime programming VP and current Tucker sidekick, came over after 13 years at ESPN. They began dating, after he got the okay from human resources, and they married in November 2006. According to TV Week, "to listen to them complete each other’s sentences and stories is alternately charming and alarmingly twins-like."

So perhaps it makes sense this twosome merged their personal and professional lives to begin working together, and not just for the same company.

When Stewart, who got her start at MTV News, left MSNBC (and a cozy Weekend Today newsreader gig) last year to do the Bryant Park Project radio show full-time with since-departed co-host Luke Burbank, Wolff followed her — and became the show's sports commentator.

So how to explain the bout of nepotism in her staffing decisions?

advertisement, editorial or advertorial?
productplacement.jpg

Ideally in the magazine world, the line between advertising and editorial content is clear. But sometimes, it gets blurry. At such times we are shocked (shocked!), and must share our indignation with you in something we call Product Placement by Intern Anastasia.

What’s that, you haven’t heard of Gotham or L.A. Confidential? Do you fly commercial airlines and clean your own house? Ew. Gotham and L.A. Confidential are two of the lux titles owned by Jason Binn’s Niche Media. Let’s see how much advertiser ass-kissing they have to do to turn a profit, since no one’s paying money to read these things.

Fortunately, The Cab Ride Home Was Just Right

Last night, as we regretted not wearing a thicker coat or comfier going-out shoes, it occurred to us that going from the Gotham/Bravo launch party for The Better Half at Room Service to the College Humor "One Last Desperate Gasp of Summer" bash at an East Village dive bar was the veritable party-hopping equivalent of jumping from a hot tub into a freezing cold swimming cool.

Which is to say, an extremely disconcerting adjustment that, in time, reminded us exactly why it is that we've always hated swimming so much in the first place.

Gotham

Niche Media, home to Gotham magazine and "its summertime sidekick," Hamptons, (along with LA Confidential, Boston Common and Capital File) is headed for changes under CEO Jason Binn. In addition to Binn's plans to launch new mags in Atlantic City and Chicago, copy editors at Gotham are busy drafting up a new masthead..

Gotham EIC Jason Oliver Nixon, is slated to become the lifestyle editor for the five magazines the company currently produces, with managing editor Kei Jaminor set to take over the top edit spot

And Hamptons magazine, once solely dependent on its sister staff, will finally get its own editor, Cindi Cook. A little bit society, a little bit news, Gotham and Hamptons have managed to maintain a solid grip on this particular gossip "niche," with Page Six The Magazine acting as the closest publication to be considered competition.

"We don't trash people, we celebrate them," Binn told Forbes magazine last year.

Which may explain why you may of never heard of or don't read either of these pubs. Unless of course, you're being featured in one of them.
