But why??

Earlier there was a joke made about there being no sweet positions left in Obama's circle for turncoat Joe Lieberman. Well, that still might be true, but Obama isn't holding any grudges against the former Democrat, currently Independent senator from Connecticut.

In fact, Obama's being awfully vocal about wanting to keep Lieberman in the Democratic Senate, instead of pushing him over to Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who said he'd take 'em, but wouldn't have any special assignments for 'em.

And when you are in the Senate, special assignments are your cheerleading practice, your football team, you drama club. Without the extracurriculars you're just another Senate nerd with no friends. So if Lieberman is forced to give up any of his status, as chair of the Homeland Security and Government Reform committee, or in Armed Services, or Environment & Public Works, the Senator has already threatened to split from the Democrats.

So how to appease the bloodthirsty Dems who want nothing to do with Lieberman after the election, while still keeping the somewhat influential but largely disgraced Senator on Obama's good side? Compromise, compromise.

The Good kind!

So Rahm Emanuel is the new chief of staff under Barack Obama, because he worked for the Clintons, is a great spin guy, and looks a lot like Anton Chigurh from No Country For Old Men but with a better haircut.

Who else is on Obama's team of Super Friends? Lots of old Clinton staff, for one thing.

No one is safe from the wrath of the right. Case in point: Christopher Buckley, the son of The National Review founder, William F. Buckley, was recently forced into resigning off his dad's own mag after he made an Obama endorsement in The Daily Beast.

So where does Buckley turn to after his own nepotism fails him? Why, back to Tina Brown's open arms/blog, of course:

Hit-and-runner and brain tumor sufferer Robert Novak just retired. Like, just this month! But here he is, back in the public debate, because the potential of John McCain picking Joe Lieberman as his running mate is too critical an issue to lay in a hospital bed and keep quiet. Even Brett Favre waited longer to return from the dead.

When copy editors are working an article but don't yet have all the words, sometimes they fill in areas they need to come back to with markers like "TK." Some high school yearbook staffs, on the other hand, will use the placeholder "black girl" for a female student's name. Last night, the Associated Press was putting together its piece on the upcoming vice presidential names that Obama and McCain would release — but it never got around to removing its placeholder. This is how the article went out on the wire before most, but not all, outlets corrected it: "His top contenders are said to include Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. Less traditional choices mentioned include former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge, an abortion-rights supporter, and Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman, the Democratic vice presidential prick in 2000 who now is an independent." Okay, fine. Typo. Whatever.

Cranky former Democrat Joe Lieberman last week called on YouTube to remove videos from what he called Islamic terrorist organizations. If they can keep The Daily Show clips off the site, why not calls for the end of the Western world?

YouTube has at last publicly answered the politico's request, and it reads something like this: Go away.

Funny, coming from a company owned by Google, which has no problem turning in its users when international authorities come calling.
