Advertiser Addendum: No James Frey, so how about Something New?

This week's advertisers are funding a weekend we're calling "Excuses Not To Mention James Frey." It's not going to be like any other weekend, really, since we don't talk about work with friends.

• Something New movie
• Looking For Comedy In The Muslim World
• Neighborhoodies
• Pherotones

Want to join us in our no-Oprah-on-the-weekends crusade? Advertise with us.

And also, don't forget that our friends at Focus Features would like to invite you to a sneak preview of Something New. The screening is tonight, so get your butt on over to their registration page! (Go here for more info.)

Score sneak preview tickets to Something New

What, you've never seen a white dude kiss a black girl before? Fret not, because now they're making entire movies about it! And here's your chance to be the first one on your block to check it out.

While the rest of America has to wait until February 3, we've teamed up with our deep pocketed friends at Focus Features to sneak you in the back door to a special preview of Something New, the "romantic comedy with a whole lot of drama" starring Sanaa Lathan and Simon Baker.

But hurry over to the sign up site, because those screenings begin this Friday, Jan. 20. You can enter to win two tickets to a sneak preview at one of 16 locations across the U.S.

Extra bonus: This is one black-and-white film that's: 1) In color; 2) doesn't show New Orleans mayor Ray Nagin making un-P.C. comments; and 3) audiences got enough of Ashton Kutcher in these type of movies with Guess Who, so don't count on him making a credited or uncredited appearance in Something New. Score!

Jossip Contest: Ali G on DVD

If Star magazine is giving free goods away, then so we can we! Granted, what we're about to offer isn't exactly helping the Hurricane Katrina cause, but inundating victims with pictures of those who will always and forever look and dress better than them isn't exactly charity, now is it?

Now, on to our free schwag.

While your friends are running to Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble to purchase (yes, with actual dollar bills) the new Ali G DVD, featuring all of Sasha Baron Cohen's second season antics, we're offering it up in our own virtual gift bag. All you need to do to snag one of the two copies we have up for grabs?

Tell us your favorite Ali G interview guest and why in 100 words or fewer. Send your email to AliGDVD@jossip.com and be sure to include your name, phone number and mailing address (no, you won't be added to any lists, but we need to let you know if you won).
