'Colonel Harland Sanders’ handwritten recipe of 11 herbs and spices was removed yesterday from safekeeping at KFC’s corporate offices for the first time in decades. The temporary relocation is allowing KFC to revamp security around a yellowing sheet of paper that contains one of the country’s most famous corporate secrets.' [AP]

Kentucky Fried Copyright Infringement

Know what American troops in Fallujah are not there to do? Cut down on intellectual property hijacking. Otherwise they might've taken action against whoever is behind the KFC that opened up in the Iraqi city, which last week caused Fox News to report on the progress being made, thanks to the troop surge or something. And this fast food franchise is even said to have a drive-thru, because thanks to "improved security" there, driving cars is completely safe. Except anyone buying Colonel's Crispy Strips at the Fallujah is doing so at an unauthorized KFC.

There are just so many things wrong with the picture at left, which features this caption: “Pamela Anderson Does Lunch At KFC For The New Faux Chicken Sandwich on August 4, 2008 in Vancouver, B.C.”

What about a bumper bucket?

bumper-bucket-kfc.jpgWhen KFC sent an open letter to Jennifer Lopez, we were all like ha, ha, that's so funny. Jennifer Lopez isn't trash, she'd never eat your food.

But when Kentucky Fried Chicken sent another open to Lauren Conrad about catering her house-warming party, we were like, dude, do you even know Lauren? She's a lot of things, but a hipster she is not. An ironic house-warming party isn't her even style. And if she were going to serve fast food at her house warming party, it would be Baja Fresh, because she's the freshest.

So next time, when KFC sends an open letter Posh Spice, we're not even going to mock it, we're just going to ignore it.

Full letter after the jump.

Hint: It’s Finger Lickin' Good

Chef and blogspot man Jean-Georges reveals his latest cooking trick:

I’ve started using another technique—or, more accurately, another machine—to cook with low heat. The C-Vap, which stands for “Controlled Vapor,” was developed for Kentucky Fried Chicken by the same company that invented its fryers. It’s basically a food warmer that uses warm water vapor—much cooler than steam—to keep KFC’s chicken crispy on the outside but warm and moist on the inside. (Or at least that’s the idea.) But I don’t use it to hold cooked foods, I cook with it.

Peter Luger loses a star and Jean-Georges makes fast food. Maybe it's time to go on a diet.

KFC Chicken

No longer will TiVo and DVR watchers be able to escape Kentucky Fried Chicken advertisements, and thankfully, the Sherlocks over at CBS are on the case. The case of the mystery hidden chicken sandwich message.

KFC has created the first ever documented case of a hidden message in a national TV commercial that holds the secret recipe for a free chicken sandwich.

KFC hopes it has found a way to use the new DVR technology to their advantage.

And what is the reward from cracking the code of "the secret recipe for a free chicken sandwich?" A coupon to try a free chicken sandwich — for free! — at participating KFC locations.

Brilliant! Especially when you consider that probably about 85% of the people who actually own DVR, are ordering their lunch in from Balthazar.
