Too good to be true

Oh that liberal elite media and its terrible sense of humor! Everyone needs to get their heads checked, because Stephen Baldwin was simply making a hilarious joke when he said he would leave the country if Barack Obama became president. According to our least favorite Baldwin brother, "The liberal Democrats who didn't get that I was joking need to lighten up." Here's a thought, Steve-O: Perhaps everyone knew you were joking but, deep down, secretly hoped that you were serious and would pack your bags after Nov. 4.

Sort of

Aha-ha. Not that any of you keep abreast of the goings-on in Tennessee's dailies, but The Murfreesboro Post had quite the kerfuffle on their hands when a La Vergne principal, Stephen Lewis, wrote one of his "humor columns" filled with "humor jokes" about Barack Obama's election as president.

Which would have been fine, if the "satiric" post hadn't been filled with such mind-boggling racist caricatures and archetypes that you wonder if Lewis likes to dress up in blackface on Halloween.

Let's just say the entire column was just revised words to the Jefferson's theme song, such as:

“Well we’re movin’ on up,
To Washington, D.C.
To a deee-luxe pimp pad,
Painted whiiiite.
Yeah we’re movin’ on up,
To the White House.
I’ll be jetting with P. Diddy cross the sky.

Awesome. Someone misinterpreted Robert Downey Jr.'s role in Tropic Thunder, hmm?

So after this news got out on blogs and what not, Principal Lewis was forced to make an apology to his students and their parents, several of which you imagine to be African-American themselves. ::Pulls collar:: Is it getting hot in here guys?

Columnist, author and drinker Christopher Hitchens says a Hillary Clinton appointment to the Obama Cabinet would be a "ludicrous embarrassment for the President and for the country." Among other things, Hitchens notes that Hillary Clinton's race-baiting during her campaign for the Democratic nomination – "Senator Obama’s support among … hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again…" – makes her unfit to serve with America's first half-black president.

Shocking

No matter how you feel about Sarah Palin's treatment by the press during and after the electoral landscape, I would like to invite you to make heads or tails of this video, without the jaded lens of the media pundits talking over her or asking any tough questions about newspapers or NAFTA, and just…listen to her. Do her sentences ever end? Sometimes I think I'm crazy because she sounds like she's making sense, but then I realize she's just using and reusing the same prepositional phrase over and over, and never ending her statement.

You Betcha

Now that the election is over and both Tina Fey and Sarah Palin have ended their runs playing the potential future Vice President, what's in the cards for the two women? Both are hilarious — one intentionally, one unintentionally — and both are beautiful and (arguably) talented. So who will stand a better chance for success in life after the presidential election?

It's really happening

It's official. Congressman Rahm Emanuel has accepted President-elect Barack Obama's offer to be his chief of staff.

The chatter first began this morning after ABC News reported on the then-rumored job change, and picked up speed after Rahm's office confirmed that Obama had extended his hand to Emanuel, an Illinois-based Congressman who previously worked in Bill Clinton's White House as a top advisor. (He also worked on Clinton's first presidential campaign.)

Terrorist Fist Bump Included

Within minutes of hearing the news that Barack Obama would be the next President of the United States, my mind went to a dark place: "Take that, Elisabeth Hasselbeck!" I couldn't wait to turn on The View this morning and watch the show's resident crazy cry in shame and weep for the state of our nation. Unfortunately, she threw us for a loop and acted like a classy, intelligent human being. Who knew?

Bonus footage includes Sherri Shepherd crying tears of joy in response to last night's election results. It's quite sweet, actually.

Life with Coop'

Anderson Cooper is rapidly becoming the one person, living or dead, with whom we would choose to have dinner. Not only is he hilariously sarcastic when it comes to politics — telling Ellen Degeneres, "I'm not sure I existed before [the election]" — he also focuses on what really matters: Reality television. The former Living Lohan critic revealed his current obsession with The Real Housewives of Atlanta, most notably resident crazy NeNe. When Ellen admits she hasn't watched, Anderson asks incredulously, "What have you been doing?" before giving the show the hard sell: "It's good … or something." Swoon.

Clip after the jump (skip to 2:30 for the good stuff).

If you've been watching or reading the news, you know that things don't look good for John McCain. Of course, anything can happen today and polls aren't to be believed, so who knows what's going to happen.

One thing's for sure - the Republican's campaign got a bit of good news today after a second investigation exonerated running mate Sarah Palin of any wrong doing in the "Troopergate" scandal:

Shrieks and murmurs

Transgendered boy queen Chris Crocker, who's looking more and more like the haunting spectre of a Top Model reject, went against his promise to quit YouTube and on Friday uploaded to the video sharing site an endorsement for That One, Barack Obama.

The whole thing is more or less a grating disaster, but it is nice to see a Democratic voter fighting idiotic faux patriotism with idiotic faux patriotism: "Anyone that's not voting for Barack Obama does not care about our country and is not American."

He's Fallen and He Can't Get Up

Goddamn is the Republican presidential campaign getting depressing. If the video above can't lead you to believe that McCain and the lady from up north are in trouble, nothing can, because you're in the tank for bomb-bomb-bombs. That said, we're still gonna do our best to convince you to otherwise.

After the jump, more signs McCain and his weak crew have given up on this POTUS thing, just like you should.

The white black man and the black white man hug it out

Barack Obama and Bill Clinton were total besties in Florida last night!

With less than a week until the election, Obama's campaign harnessed former President Clinton to stump in the highly contested Sunshine State, a state where Clinton remains immensely popular. While the politicians haven't always gotten along this election season, there couldn't have been more love in Kissimmee last night.

Golly gee!

Say what you will about Barack Obama's plan to enslave all American Christians and make broodmares out of blonde females, you've got to admit his marketing team is really, really good. Like, Nike in the late 90s and early aughts good.

That One's newest ads make the case for an Obama presidency not by highlighting common Democratic rhetoric, but by focusing on the words of two superstars of the GOP—one from the past and one from the present.

Gay Elites Hang 'Er High

So, a gay couple in West Hollywood is getting famous for hanging an effigy of Sarah Palin from their roof!

Some people think it's hilarious and take pictures, others think it's in poor taste and say things like, "What if someone hung a Barack Obama mannequin from a noose?" To which we reply: Do you know anything about history? And also SOMEONE HAS!

San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom has been a tireless crusader for gay rights. It was he who, way back in 2000, began issuing marriage licenses in San Francisco.

Though those marriages were later annulled by the state, California's Supreme Court this year ruled that gay folk should, in fact, have the right to marry, a decision that spurred the right to launch Proposition 8, which would reverse the Court's ruling. Again, Newsom's been campaigning against that measure and just this week shored up support against conservative "extremists."

Obviously the right doesn't like Newsom very much and have been using him as the poster child for gay-friendly politicians. This means, of course, that should Proposition 8 pass, Newsom's ubiquitous image may take some of the blame.

Poor Focus Features.

The film company hit gay gold a few years back with Brokeback Mountain, a love story about gay cowboys. Well, the company will tonight premiere its latest lavender adventure, Milk, a biopic about slain San Francisco supervisor Harvey Milk. While laymen may assume Focus would want to build the hype, they're eschewing a big hoopla over the homo-tinged feature.
