Someone, Please, Tell Us: When Is It Judith's Turn to Cry?

When Judith Regan was fired on Friday night – a story we broke while News Corp. types were enjoying their annual holiday fete – everyone was abuzz with what was going to happen in the fall out: Was Regan holed up in a bunker? Was Rupert afraid he made the wrong decision? Was O.J. Simpson really making par at Pebble Beach?

But if you thought Judith Regan was at the losing end of this battle, we'll let her attorney speak on the matter: "She's not going to take this lying down." That's right kids: In just a few days, Regan and counsel Bert Fields will be filing a wrongful termination lawsuit against Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., promising to drag this media spectacle into the weeks and months to come. Hoorah! But no, Jew revelers, don't think this suit will ruin Hannukah: the papers will be filed after the holiday.

And while Regan bides her time by flipping through Jenna Jameson's chapter on mechanical bull riding, News Corp. is looking at another lawsuit to take part in — courtesy, indirectly, Regan.

Ron Goldman's family yesterday filed a federal civil suit with the aim of finding out how the proceeds from ReganBooks' If I Did It were going to be paid out – something about a shell corporation – to keep Juice from officially earning any income and, thus, having to pay that wrongful death sum.

Which means in the months to come, we might be looking forward to Rupert taking the stand in two cases — which Fox News will certainly deem worthy of covering, we're sure.

Judith Regan's Camp Needs Explanation on Why Blaming Jews Might Be Mean On Aisle 1

Yesterday came word that Judith Regan's camp promised a "war" on News Corp. for the supposedly unfair firing of the book publisher. And today, with Rupert Murdoch's official fanclub releasing the statements Regan allegedly made during the phone conversation that got her axed, Regan's attorney is screaming "Libel! Libel!" from atop Mount Sinai.

Bert Fields, a Hollywood lawyer who is representing Ms. Regan, said that News Corp.'s HarperCollins has libeled Ms. Regan by suggesting that she had made anti-Semitic remarks on Friday during a conversation with HarperCollins attorney Mark Jackson. A News Corp. spokesman yesterday said Ms. Regan had used the words "Jewish cabal" to describe some of her fellow executives.

Mr. Fields disputed this: "She did not make any remarks that a rational person would consider anti-Semitic," he said. "What she said was that she was being destroyed in the press for something that wasn't her fault, and that the Jewish people should understand more than anybody else what it is to be the victim of a big lie. If anybody considers that anti-Semitic, they should explain it to me."

But really, how far away is that line from Mel Gibson's infamous "Fucking Jews … The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world. … Are you a Jew?" Pretty damn close, riiiight? Which means we need to treat Mel and Judith the same way: By only patronizing their million-dollar projects if they're about the past.

Judith Regan, Not A Jew

Since we broke the news of Judith Regan's firing from HarperCollins, our comments section has become not a place for genteel discussion on high powered women in the workplace, but a firing squad of Jew hating and Semitic pride.

How fitting, then, that we should learn Rupert Murdoch dismissed his underling because of her Jew-hating ways.

The conversation with Mr. Jackson on Friday afternoon was described by sources as heated and confrontational, even for the famously forceful Ms. Regan. Ms. Regan’s alleged comments, which came in the midst of a tense conversation in which she berated Mr. Jackson, were directed at him and Ms. Friedman, who are Jewish, as well as toward other Jews, one of the sources said.

That source would not say specifically what Ms. Regan is alleged to have said, but characterized the comments as offensive and inappropriate, but not a hateful tirade. Still, the source said, it was enough to prompt Mr. Murdoch to dismiss her.

Or, as one commenter put it, "basically smith, youre a dick, welcome to the new century asswipe." See how easy it is to say nasty things without Jew hating this holiday season?

Breaking: Judith Regan Fired

Exclusive

We're hearing Judith Regan has been fired by Rupert Murdoch after an intense back-and-forth following the O.J. Simpson book scandal. Effective immediately, Regan is no longer leading ReganBooks, the Harper Collins imprint.

Update: The New York Times has more details, though they state:

It is also unclear whether Ms. Regan has been dismissed only from HarperCollins, or terminated entirely from the News Corporation, Rupert Murdoch’s giant media company. Over the years, Ms. Regan has gained a growing amount of sway within the company because of her ability to generate profits from books and other ventures.

Our understanding is that Regan has been removed from News Corp. entirely.

Unfortunately Judith Regan passed on this dust jacket. And a whole slew of others.

Judith Regan's Tarot Cards Didn't Mention Anything About a Fake Psychic

As we learned from Three Six Mafia, it's hard out here for a pimp. And as we learned far too dramatically from James Frey, it's hard for a book publisher to vet the truthiness of a non-fiction tome. Doubleday got a public lashing for it. And now Judith Regan might deserve to join the fold for publishing Miami Psychic, a supposed memoir by a one Regina Milbourne.

Except that Regina's real name is actually Gina Marie Marks. And Marks isn't actually a psychic but "part of a notorious Gypsy criminal family that has personally been involved in well-documented fortunetelling scams" who turns up in police records tied to swindling with $75,000 price tags And Marks doesn't even live in Miami — she's spent most of the past 10 years in Hollywood and Dania (Florida). But as far as Regan Books (a HarperColilns imprint) is concerned, the author is using her real name. And as far as we're concerned? This has best-seller scandal written all over it.
