Since the fine people at Good Luck Chuck sent us a pair of promotional underwear, we thought it was only fair to mention that their movie comes out today.
The critics have been raving. A.O. Scott can barely contain his enthusiasm:
In the meantime plenty of less famous women do take their tops off, which will make Good Luck Chuck a must-see for young men with a subscription to Maxim but no access to the Internet.
With July 4th falling on a Wednesday last week, we were so distracted with the prospect of a mid-week drinking binge that we utterly forgot to do what we love best: look up the reviews for a horrible movie that we weren't planning on seeing anyway.
Today's must-don't: License to Wed, starring Robin Williams, John Krasinski (who?) and Mandy Moore. However, rather than presenting you with all the runner-ups (indeed, the Boston Globe reviewer deserves an Honorable Mention for describing the film as a "lobotomized, condescendingly lazy movie that leaves you resentful of Hollywood") we've decided to just go ahead and present you with the hands-down winner.
The reviews are in, and it looks as though Pirates of the Caribbean is all washed up! (Har har). Naturally, we weren't invited to the advance press screening—something about lacking readers, proper credentials—but we've taken the liberty of rounding up the pun-tastic headlines and choice excerpts from each of your favorite neighborhood movie critics.
