The quaint Saturday Night Live clip above – where a fictionalized Bobby "The General" Knight plays Seth Meyers' "Weekend Update" coach from this weekend's episode – couldn't have aired at a more convenient time. (And yes, we're aware this makes it the second SNL post of the day already.) Why so convenient? Because it looks like the SNL cast is poking fun at yet another real life situation: Seth Meyers isn't delivering.

The newly inducted "Weeked Update" co-anchor – given the job after Tina Fey took off for certain failure in Sitcomville – hasn't been impressing his colleagues. Or his bosses. While exec producer Lorne Michaels may not be one to criticize, we hear from a SNL insider that, so far, Lorne is not exactly impressed with Meyers' performance. "Each time [Michaels] sees it, he gets very tense. Seth's timing is off, and he hasn't been able to fix it. It's a very awkward conversation for them to have."

Anchor desk big sister Amy Poehler, meanwhile, is among Meyers' staunchest supporters. While she's never been put in a position to outright defend him, she has silenced quipping among fellow cast members, we're told. "Though," says our insider, "that may have more to do with the fact that [Seth's mistakes] makes her look better. But I can't honestly imagine that she'd prefer to look better at a crappy 'Weekend Update' desk — if he fucks up, it looks bad for her too."

Other cast members are well aware of Seth's struggles. We're told Andy Samberg and Fred Armisen are among those that can be seen shaking their heads and staring at the floor when Meyers' lines fizzle during dress rehearsels. (They're often too busy preparing for the own acts during the live show, we're told. No word on whether they watch the show later on TiVo.)

Our SNL source says there isn't any talk, yet, about Meyers being replaced. Then again, he is co-head writer.
