
You can expect tonight's 40th anniversary bash for Fox 5 to be filled with chatter about its cable news sibling potentially heading to the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing's Hall of Fame. Fox News Channel's "Fair & Balanced" slogan has been nominated to join the ranks of "I Want My MTV" but it'll have to whack The Sopranos marketing campaign and even HGTV for its Dream Home giveaway. And if FNC does win, it'll be quite the coup — given that, from what we can tell, not a single executive sits on CTAM's board.
When our doorman threw this month's Vanity Fair against our door, it made a loud thud — and quite an impression. The fold-out flap for the cover story on The Sopranos was, how shall we say, eerily familiar. While we can appreciate seeing Tony and the gang sprawled out on the cover and two flaps – Drea de Matteo back from the dead being our fav part – as much as the next made guy, we couldn't help but think: Graydon Carter totally ripped this off.
