Calling Bullshit on Outrage

News broke today that Vanity Fair and the National Security News Service are in a legal battle with the United States Navy over documents they believe prove John McCain's involvement in a car accident that injured or killed another person.

Vanity Fair magazine and the National Security News Service claim to have knowledge "developed from first-hand sources" of a car crash that involved then-Lt. McCain at the main gate of a Virginia naval base in 1964, according to legal filings. The incident has been largely, if not entirely, kept from the public. Another bush cronie gets a multi-media payday

advice.jpg

Matthew Dowd, that Democrat who helped who helped Bush get elected (no, not Gore), has scored a deal with ABC News as an on-air contributor and blogger.

Dowd will be joining Karl Rove, ex-communications director Nicolle Wallace and former speech writers Michael Gerson and Matthew Scully as old Bushies who were able to score media jobs after leaving the White House.

With Ted Kennedy nabbing $8 million for his memoirs, the Rover getting something like $3 million, we’re starting to think politics would have been a more profitable foray into journalism than majoring in English.

Latest Book Deal treats long term senator like a Prime Minister

g_03.jpg

Ted Kennedy may not have been as popular or successful as his big brothers John and Bobby, but he did grow up with them. And that alone is worth a cha-ching book deal.

The Massachusetts Senator received an advance of more than $8 million from Grand Central Publishing to write an autobiography. That’s just behind Tony Blair, who bankrolled $9 million for his memoirs and Bill Clinton, who got $10 million.

But considering the public’s unquenchable interest in Camelot and its general apathy toward the Israel-Palestine conflict, Ted Kennedy got robbed.

WaPo Reliable Source columnist Amy Argetsinger snuck a camcorder into last night's "Grammy's on the Hill" awards, and captured an inebriated Ted Kennedy slurring his way through a group rendition of "We Are The World." A sarcastic Lloyd Grove muttered, "Wow, Ted Kennedy drunk at an open-bar D.C. event! Call the presses!" [BigHeadDC]
