The launch of "exclusive" Hamptons social networking site HamptonsUndercover.com — so exclusive, it's only worth using three months of the year — is the perfect time to ask three East End ladies about the best of Manhattan's summer playground. Thus, a list of things to avoid between here and Labor Day. [BlackBook]

Though Miles Jaffe's The Hamptons Dictionary: The Essential Guide to Class Warfare dropped on April 1, it's taken us until now to 1) pull it out of the envelope it arrived in; 2) find ourselves in a situation that warrants it. But now that we're fully into Hamptons season, learned our lessons from Shallon Lester, and know all the hotspots to make fun of and secretly patronize, we finally cracked it open. And what a wealth of information it is! Especially coming from someone who hates all of the things he defines.

Shallon Lester, the Rush & Molloy junior gossip agent, is also a "double agent." Shooting videos and offering advice to readers of DoubleAgent.com, it's Lester's job to clue in the male species about what makes attractive women want them.

You might know Lester from her chronicled attempts of trying to be Paris Hilton' BFF. But she's also the co-author of Hot Mess, about a surburban girl who takes to New York City to, like, try and make it.

As Amazon describes the book: "Emma’s totally prepped for days at a fabulous internship and nights of socialite-ing around town. But when you’re 17 and not an heiress, reality is far from pink fizzy drinks and red velvet ropes. As the summer heats up, Emma learns that glamour is hard to come by when your only friend is too boy-crazy to hang, your budget is more H&M than D&G, and you spend 8 hours a day working for a man who proves that the devil wears Dockers too."

Which has this video from Lester making perfect sense. It's where she describes the Hamptons, a mythical place she says she's never been to, as a place for losers. (Which it totally is! See you there this weekend?)

The video is below and, warning, it auto-starts. But it's quite funny.

Update: Lester writes in to tell us that she went to the Hamptons this weekend. A virgin no more!

Katie Couric

Even though she has another job all lined up, Katie Couric didn't waste a minute to start her summer vacation. The former Today show host just dropped $6.3 mil on a seven bedroom East Hamptons home.

After a tear-jerking send-off on Wednesday, Katie Couric is ready to move on: to the Hamptons! The future CBS News anchor just bought a $6.3 million home in East Hampton, according to the Wall Street Journal …

Measuring over 7,000 square feet, the two-story home includes seven bedrooms, six bathrooms, and a pool.

That's enough room for Matt Lauer, Al Roker, and Natalie Morales to join her and the kids for fun summer weekends. We can just hear it now … "oh, sorry, Ann. Matt insisted on bringing the intern … there just isn't any more room. Next time! Kisses!"
