Eloise

On Wednesday, Christies will host a Truman Capote style Black and White ball in honor of the complete destruction and selling off of The Plaza.

Before the famous hotel gets turned into a condo complex, memories of the city's staple, such as the fake shoes from Eloise at the Plaza, and some breakfast in bed PJs will be up for grabs.

"It really is an opportunity for a piece of The Plaza," said Cathy Elkies, a Christie's spokeswoman. "It is New York history and world history, really."

And instead of preserving this wonderful world history by giving it to a museum, or possibly keeping some of it in the lobby of the new Plaza, they are putting it all on the block in an auction is expected to bring in about $750,000. No matter how dissapointing, however, one thing we can expect is for this event to end up in New York Magazine's FOB next week.
