The three men leading the New York Post's poll of "Hottest News Hunks" just so happen to be Anderson Cooper (26.5%), followed by Thomas Roberts (18.5%) and Bill Hemmer (12.3 %). Oh, heterosexual Brian Williams, you did not stand a chance. [NYP via TVN]

What would you do if hunky homo-journo Thomas Roberts hiked you out into the wilderness? Whatever it is, we bet you didn’t think “Interview him!”

Well, that’s what The Advocate’s Sean Kennedy did - fool! - and got the 35-year old to open up on about his very public exit from CNN. Contrary to rumors, says Roberts, he was not fired suspiciously close to coming out. His contract was over and, you know, he had personal shit.

thomasroberts.jpg Writes in an inquiring mind: "I couldn't help but notice on yesterday's edition of The Insider that Thomas Roberts, former CNN anchor, [ALLEGED!] child abusee and [RUMORED!] Craig's List nude, is wearing a wedding band on his left hand." Did somebody have a commitment ceremony with a Manhunt.net date?

Perez Hilton caller-outer and journalust Japhy Grant is back doing what he does best: Calling out his media brethren for calling out gay public figures. With Perez, it was celebs. And in this homemade video clip, it's blogger Kenneth Walsh on Japhy's hitlist. Kenneth, of course, is enjoying a traffic spike after posting naked Manhunt.net photos of former CNN anchor and current The Insider talent Thomas Roberts.

Argues Japhy: Republishing naked photos of a gay feller looking for sex accomplishes nothing worthy of journalism, and it only allows the mainstream press (nod to Page Six) to make bad gay jokes.

Which is true. But the minute we get our hands on Maria Bartiromo's stocks and bonds, we're posting.

There are blind items. And then there are blind items where you pretend to cover your eyes with your hands except it's obvious you're peeking out between your fingers. Guess which scenario we've got here?

Asks blogger Kenneth in the 212: "Which TV insider has been known to make his own headline news with these superhot nude pics of himself on the gay cruising site Manhunt.net?"

We'll let you visit that site for the NSFW photo hints, but in an entirely unrelated visit to memory lane, let's once again ogle new Insider correspondent Thomas Roberts' torso.

thomasroberts.jpg We're hearing openly gay – which must be mentioned, of course – former CNN anchor Thomas Roberts, whose torso makes us swoon, has inked a contributor deal with CBS Paramount's The Insider and/or Entertainment Tonight.

What with E!'s Ryan Seacrest and Marc Malkin, plus Extra's Mark McGrath, tabloid TV is becoming a gay teen's haven.

As we say goodbye to CNN anchor Thomas Roberts – well, he wasn't so much an "anchor" in his last days as he was a member of the virtually unseen payroll – blogger KIT212 reminds us what we loved most about him.

Did you know CNN has an openly gay anchor? No, not Cooper, silly, but Thomas Roberts. Well, he was CNN's openly gay anchor (CNN Headline News, at least), until he came out (at least in his most public iteration), and then lost his show in September. He's since stayed on at the network, probably letting his contract run out as he toils behind the scenes. But as of Friday, he ended his 5-year tenure.

And as sad as we are to see him go – frustrated that we have to watch Fox News for our Shep Smith and Bill Hemmer dosage – it's even more upsetting to recount these comments he gave in an interview about coming out:

"I had some concerns, but not enough to stop me from doing it,” Roberts said. “There was some trepidation… about making yourself vulnerable to a group of journalists with questions, to experience being on the other side, being in the hot seat, to come up with thoughtful, truthful answers in the way that I wanted…. It's the largest step I've taken to be more active in the organization, and to interact with other gay journalists….

“No one advised me against doing it. I have no regrets, but I have some concerns about some of the reporting, certain correlations that are being drawn.”

Those "correlations," of course, being that his coming out on a national stage led to his firing. Which is entirely outrageous. At the hands of CNN prez Jon Klein, Roberts' firing had more to do with his not being a hot, young woman.
