Furious of the Associated Press' Tony Snow obit, O'Reilly writes: "The recent death of Tony Snow brought sadness to millions of Americans who admired the man's public service and optimism about his country. But not everybody felt the need to honor Mr. Snow. Just hours after he died from cancer, the Associated Press released an obituary that has shocked some people and badly damaged the AP's image, at least in the conservative community. [...] Now, remember, that was written just hours after the man passed away at age 53. To accuse Mr. Snow of factual inaccuracies without citing evidence is itself irresponsible, but to do it in an obit is outrageously inappropriate and an insult to the Snow family. If the Associated Press wants to do an opinion piece about Tony Snow's public service, fine. But at least wait until after the funeral." So, now would be OK? [BOR]

Now that Tony Snow is dead, everybody who made it their jobs to hate him, rebuff him, criticize him, and expose him as a White House shill. Every one is a saint in death!

Last night, it was David Gregory's turn. Here, he delivers a "Remembering Tony Snow" tribute. Quite touching, really. Nevermind that Gregory couldn't stand the guy.

Tony Snow, the former White House press secretary who arrived from Fox News, and most recently was a correspondent for CNN, died this morning following a three-year battle against colon cancer. He was 53.

It's always in times of death that even one's enemies find as many good things to say about you as your friends. So while Roger Ailes, Rupert Murdoch, Brit Hume, and the Bush administration has accolades ready for the soundbite, so too do those who found him most appalling, and spent at least part of their careers attacking him.

tonysnow1.jpg Tony Snow left the White House, as press secretary, in August supposedly because the pay cut he took to leave Fox News for the new gig wouldn't cover the costs of supporting a family and cancer treatment. (He battled colon cancer, and is now fighting abdominal cancer.) Lucky him, then, that his old friends at Fox News are looking out for him: He's becoming the permanent fill-in host for Bill O'Reilly's radio show, Radio Factor. Today marks his first appearance with the new title, and the first of many paychecks that best government wages. [BOR]

Related: Gonzales Confirms His Resignation, But Admits He 'Can't Remember' Whether Or Not It Has To Do With The Senate Judiciary Hearings

alberto-gonzalez-senatecu-sm.JPG

From NYT: "Embattled Attorney General Resigns Gonzales Made Call to President Bush on Friday."

If true (and its already on Wikipedia so it just might be!) this means Gonzales will be joining the ranks of departing White House Press Secretary Tony Snow and the recently retired election winner/regime ruiner Karl Rove, a.k.a. co-founders of the "Let's get the hell out of here" club.

And while the official reason for Gonzalez's resignation is still unclear (unfortunately for Gonzales, Rove already invoked the "I'm leaving to spend more time with my son, and thereby ruin his freshman year of college" excuse) we're almost certain this has little or nothing at all to do with that whole "dismissal of U.S. attorneys" controversy Gonzales reportedly knows remembers nothing about.

One thing we do know? CNN is only just now picking up the story. Presumably from Wikipedia, who's had it up since approximately 8am.

White House Press Secretary To Step Down Because Of Health Reasons Lackluster Approval Ratings Supposed Financial Hardship

tony-snow-pressconf.JPG

One week after Karl Rove's resignation (and with Bush's approval ratings at an all time low) White House press secretary Tony Snow has announced his impending departure, citing his reasons as purely monetary.

"I'm not going to be able to go the distance, but that's primarily for financial reasons." Snow said. "I've told people when my money runs out, then I've got to go."

For the record, Snow was previously diagnosed with colon cancer in 2005, however he claims his health condition has since stabilized. Meanwhile, his reported annual salary is a paltry $168,000.

Okay, before I get to that, I want to address something else, because you and I had a conversation last week that got a whole lot of play in a lot of places where I used the term "partisan" in describing one of your questions. And I've thought a lot about that, and I was wrong. So I want to apologize and tell you I'm sorry for it. And the reason I do that is not only because it's the right thing to do, because I want people in this room and also people who watch these to understand that the relations in this room are professional and collegial. And if I expect you to do right by us, you have every right to expect that I'll do right by you.

So, in any event, I just want to say I'm sorry for that.

That's White House press secretary Tony Snow apologizing to NBC's David Gregory upon realizing that, ya know, a lot of Americans watch NBC's news broadcasts. More than any other network, in fact.

Meet Tony Snow. You used to know him as a Fox News talking head. Now you know him as the White House's talking head. And it's a job he's well prepared for: He spins "news" like a pro. He asks the tough questions. He calls proud Mexicans "idiots." But most importantly, he makes Joe Scarborough's face look not as long.
