TR Knight last night spoke with students at Miguel Contreras Learning Complex’s School of Social Justice about the Day of Silence.
The Grey’s Anatomy actor opened by offering some regrets about having to even address the a subject, particularly with regard to Lawrence King, before launching into some personal reflection about feeling “wrong” as a child and discussing Simmie Williams, Jr, another, underpublicized queer teen who died this year. Williams was shot for wearing a dress, while King lost his life for having a crush on the wrong guy, his killer.
Knight uses this point to point a finger at intimidated straight men, saying “straight guys feel so threatened by us - look at me, I’m not going to hurt you!” Crushes, he concludes, are completely natural and while they may be a nuisance, they are certainly not a license to kill. Or even maim.
As we write this, we're looking out the window and salivating over the picture perfect weather outside, currently being wasted on lazy unemployed persons and pretentious NYU students. And so, for your sanity and ours, we've decided to kick off a glorious new feature called "Comment of the Day," to provide a transient glimmer of entertainment for all you working stiffs who would much rather be downing margaritas poolside on the Jersey Shore (while fending off advances from married, guidos named Tony) than slaving away in your cubicles.
Today's "Comment of the Day" comes to us from Us Weekly's website, and it pertains to the shaky future of Isaiah Washington and T.R. Knight's characters on Grey's Anatomy, and the impact their absence would have on the show overall.
I LOVE ISAIAH!!!!!!! I think T.R. just needs to stop CRYING and acting like a little girl and move on. I'd MUCH RATHER have ISAIAH than T.R. on the show! He RUINED the storyline by "COMING OUT". No chance with Meredith…Then they try to cover it up by getting married! Thats a joke. They should marry him to a male! –Anonymous
Thanks for playing, Anonymous!
One thing, though. Even though you're totally right that George did, as you say, "ruin the storyline by coming out," there's no way the show's writers could marry him to a male because, well, same sex marriages aren't actually legal in this country.
Otherwise, great idea.
• Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams are reportedly over! Which increases your odds of actually dating him by approximately 0.0001%!
• At Saturday night's GLAAD awards, Grey's Anatomy's T.R. Knight was once more applauded for the courage and bravery he demonstrated by accidentally coming out.
• Nikki Finke was right about Portfolio being CEO porn, wrong about how much we'd eat it up.
• Pamela Anderson scars her children for life by reminding everyone what washed-up porn stars look like without any makeup on.
• Katie Couric has Don Imus' racism to thank.

"Grey's Anatomy" star Isaiah Washington has announced that he will check into a treatment center for psychological evaluation, following the controversy over his anti-gay slur against co-star T.R. Knight.
"I have begun counseling," Washington said. "I regard this as a necessary step toward understanding why I did what I did and making sure it never happens again."
Also, Isaiah is exhausted.

While the New York Post gets its Grey's Anatomy "faggot" scandal rocks off with the screaming headline "GAY'S ANATOMY," we, for some stupid reason we've yet to understand, thought the blogs might have more creative answers to how to brutally exploit the opportunity for a pun. Or print much more clever headlines. Whichever.
Indeed, they didn't disappoint.

As you've likely heard, former Doogie Houser and current How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris came out of the closet last week, announing he's a big gay. And who does he tell his story to? Why People magazine, of course. First Lance Bass gets his cover story, then T.R. Knight gives the Time Inc. tabloid the "exclusive" on his homo habits, and now Harris has shaken hands with Larry's Hackett. Because while Vanity Fair is where celebrities reveal they were molested as a child, People is the place to spread the word that you're a bottom.
