Talk of the Tabs
The Week Life & Style Finally Got It Right

us-013008.jpg

Because the tabs missed Heath Ledger's death last week, this week we are treated to multiple angles of the actor's life: He was an awful person! He was a great person! He was addicted to drugs! He tried to get help! TMZ wore us out with this last week. Let's move on.

The biggest news, of course, is Angelina's pregnancy. You know what this means: Expect a bombardment of Brangelina covers for the next nine months.

In other news, Lynne Spears tries to act like a mother, Heidi claims to be religious and Miley Cyrus is the next Britney. God help us all.

Us Weekly
Cover: A 10-page spread features everything you could ever want to know about Heath Ledger — and everything the press has already revealed since his death last Tuesday. Really, it's like beating a dead horse (pardon the pun).
• Heidi Montag, The Hills' resident villain, said she prays for Lauren "five times a day." Us goes on to describe Montag as "a devout Christian," and we can't help but wonder if the mag's staffers have even seen her in action.
• Still trying to come up with a Valentine's Day gift? Well, don't turn to Us. The mag has lots of suggestions, but none in a reasonable price range. A necklace worth $1,800? Sandals that look ridiculous and cost $550? A McDonald's gift card is looking better by the minute.

In Touch
Cover: In Touch takes the classy route and wastes six pages on making Heath Ledger look like a terrible person. "He was acting like a star, he enjoyed the nightlife, he's always been a playboy." Sounds like someone's a little angry Heath didn't give them the exclusive on his death last week.
• We're a little concerned about In Touch readers: 24 percent of them don't think Madonna's had work done. We're hoping those people are blind.
• Angelina's preggers, and In Touch has to point out that they told everyone first, along with a picture of last week's cover. Good for you, In Touch. After weeks of running the pregnancy story, you finally got lucky.

Life & Style
Cover: Angie's pregnancy is dangerous — and we can't imagine why. Isn't a healthy pregnancy weight, like, 90 pounds? "[Angelina] had a rough pregnancy with Shiloh, and she worries that having twins or triplets could be even more draining." Yes, you read that right: She could be having triplets. Which almost makes a full baseball team.
• Lynne Spears spoke to Life & Style after she landed in LA earlier this week. "Britney's on my mind day and night. She never leaves my thoughts." You and the rest of America. Blame TMZ for that.
• It's true love, y'all: Jamie Lynn Spears bought her baby daddy a used white truck — with a trailer hitch! Romance is in the air.

Star
Cover: More of the miracle Brangelina pregnancy: The Jolie-Pitt twins (or triplets?) were conceived through in vitro fertilization, and Star has already discovered the names: "For a boy, they were thinking Jesse William and for a girl, Angelina wants to use her mother's name, Marcheline." Wonder if Brad and Angie are aware of this.
• Miley "Destiny Hope" Cyrus is the next Britney Spears, according to Star: Miley and Britney both started out as Disney stars, so obviously they're on the same path to crazytown.
• Hospital staff at LA's Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (where Christina and Nicole gave birth to their babies a couple weeks ago) say that Christina was not so nice, but Nicole was a big hit with the employees and patients because she gave them gifts. Yes, giving away free stuff is the new nice.

OK!
Cover: Hey, did you hear? Angelina's pregnant! And the only new information OK! adds to the story is rumors of morning sickness — apparently Angie was having to get up at the SAG awards because the sight of food was making her sick. Yawn.
• Mary Kate Olsen is sad about Heath Ledger's death. So sad, in fact, that she went out in New York a couple nights later, got insanely drunk and then made out with another guy. We can really feel her pain.
• In a moment of self-awareness, Paula Abdul decided to pretape her Super Bowl performance because she wasn't sure performing live would be the greatest idea. A source says Paula's "emotionally fragile," which is our new term for "hopped up on medication 24/7."

Have to love your little digs at TMZ. You mean the nonstop breaking news/exclusives of stories broken down into 5 parts isn't entertaining? nor informative?
