Teens should read MTV books, not blogs

MTV

We had every intention to do some coverage on all the hoopla over the "die blogs! Die!" spaz attack that happened today. Unfortunately, we were too busy shopping for Paris Hilton's birthday gift to crank out a reaction that would reach the proper Lindsay Lohan bathroom wall scrawl level.

However, we did have just enough time to pick up on this little "MTV is launching into the teen publishing world," bit.

In the four books to be published in March, the main characters are all teenage girls who take on coming-of-age themes, glamour and “hot boys.”

Since its launch, MTV Books has mainly offered risqué reading material for the college-aged crowd, such as a series of books by rapper 50 Cent and Such a Pretty Girl, a thriller about an abusive father.

Marketing coming-of-age books to teenage girls centered around glamour and hot boys? Asking college kids to read 50 Cent? (50 Cent can barely form a grammatically correct sentence, but, whatever.) We swear we even heard our illiterate President discussing the importance of reading on CNN today.

Not an issue at all. So go ahead kids! Read your hot boy guides from MTV and learn things like, "how to contract HPV in under 30 minutes." But whatever you do, stay away from the blogs. They're totally ruining America, the media, and your life.
