Thank God for … Matt Drudge?

drudge291.jpg It's another shiny day for Matt Drudge, the political and weather headline blogger. Not only is he getting the write-around treatment from the Daily Telegraph, a la New York magazine, but he's also being hailed as a friend to journalism in some circles. If it weren't for his blaring typeface, Prince Harry's stint in Afghanistan may have never come to light, or at least not so soon, since the entire British press was in cahoots never to tell the public about it. Or: Drudge is a self-serving douchebag, who'd rather score more pageviews than protect the safety of a royal.

The Harry story was not news, it was dangerous gossip. And it put someone, not just at grave risk in Afghanistan, but for the rest of his life, as more details come out about his time there. That should be a national security breach and Drudge should be tried in a court of law for what he did. If censorship comes to this country and other freedom loving countries, we have no one to blame but ourselves. Or rather, the people of the press.

matt drudge like most members of the "news media" has no credibility. revealing that harry is in afghanistan is a pathetic attempt to "break a story." In doing so drudge didn't score any points of any kind. drudge is a weirdo- on a sunday evening a few weeks ago , he had a "developing" story that a decision on the sirius/xm merger was imminent. he's like that other blogger who keeps saying his "highly placed sources in Miami" have told him castro has died. May be advertisers will get wise and walk away from this type of tabloid garbage.

Self-serving jackass and definitely off my list of websites *forever* based on this incident. "Breaking" the story served no true purpose other than thumbing his nose at . . . who knows who.
