Even after slashing 2.8 percent of its workforce, Time Inc. is still looking for a fat $200 million payday for its portfolio of un-sexy titles. Among the castoffs: Popular Science, Parenting, Skateboarding, Yachting, and Surf. All of which are also known as "magazines seen in a pediatrician's office with war-torn corners and dates older than the toddlers being examined."
Supposedly Time Inc. wants to narrow down the field to just a few "serious" bidders, though naturally we're pulling for former Jann Wenner sidekick Kent Brownridge. Who else will understand the anxiety of staffers on the masthead of a taken-over magazine who don't know whether they'll be kicked around— and revel in it?
