The Curious Case of the Cable News Network That's Covering John Edwards

By now everybody in America should have been aware that John Edwards maybe, possibly, probably(?) carried on an extramarital affair that produced a love child. Except everybody in America is not! This is because the news media has blanketly refused — with perhaps one exception — to cover the National Enquirer's story. The LAT and WaPo aren't getting their hands dirty with the matter, and neither are cable news networks like MSNBC or CNN. But wait, what's this? One cable news network is covering the Edwards saga?

Indeed, Fox News has broached the subject four times. But it's not because FNC has an interest in seeing high-profile Democrats come tumbling toward the earth in a mudslide of scandal, but because they are dedicated to responsible journalism. And letting you decide.

Good for the news media for ignoring this story because…it is a non-story. It is non-news. Who on earth cares if this guy has an affair, or even has a baby with someone other than his wife? Who cares? He's not in office, he's not running for office, he's not even doing anything with any government, jurisdiction, organization, company or campaign. He's just some private citizen who made a couple of million off of personal injury lawsuits, and bought his way into politics for one Senate term and some campaigns. So who cares now if he has a mistress and a kid? Who cares? It is completely, 100 percent, wholly non-news. Next story!

This man had the affair while he was running for President - while his wife was being treated for breast cancer. After his candidacy for Pres. hit the skids, his name was mentioned for the VP slot. He is NOT "just some private citizen" as you claim. It is a story - except for diehard liberal Democrats who want it buried just like MSNBC and CNN are doing for them.

I don't recall anything being proven in that area. And they are probably just trying to smear a Democrat. Fox is notorious for their skewed reporting.
