Carson Daly, who returned to his day job even though a little thing called "the WGA is on strike" was going on, just received the door prize for having such machismo: NBC is slashing his budget and firing most of his writers. You know, those fellas who were, oh what was it? On strike.
Three writers whose contracts expired during the strike were let go; the one remaining writer has just four weeks left on his deal.
Last Call With Carson Daly has been going at it for five years now, and was about to see an early curtain unless Carson went back to work, as per the network's demands. Having met those demands, Daly now faces a show with minimal talent and an even greater incentive for viewers to bypass the show, let his Nielsen numbers tumble, and force NBC's hand in cancellation. Not to get dramatic.
