Ann Coulter has been on quite a tear lately. Yesterday, we told you how she sought to turn a lapse in judgment by Rosie O'Donnell into a full frontal assault on same-sex adoption rights, but the crazy doesn't end there.
She also got into a fight with Elizabeth Edwards during an appearance on Hardball.
Coulter, the guest on the show, went into a stuttering, hair-flipping frenzy when Edwards' wife caught her off guard by phoning in and asking Coulter to "politely" refrain from engaging in negative personal attacks—against her husband, and all other candidates—because it "debases political dialogue."
Did Ann agree to back off?
Of course not!
"You're asking me to stop speaking. ‘Stop writing your columns. Stop writing your books,'"Coulter fired back, deliberately missing the point.
Elizabeth tried to explain, but fortunately, Hardball host Chris Matthews was on hand to help clear things up.
"Why do you talk about Hillary's chubby legs in your book?" he wanted to know. "Why do you bring up the word, ‘chubby?' Why do you make fun of Hillary's chubby legs?"
To which Coulter countered by asking Matthews to "read the sentence," so she could defend the remark in context.
"We'll be back and read the entire sentence….I don't know why we're reading, but the full intellectual context will be coming in a moment."
Our sentiments exactly.

Obviously we all missed the point. Coulter was set up. Whether you like her or not, agree with her or not, is irrelevant. Edwards targeted her with the specific intentions of gathering more fodder for campaign fundraising. It's evident on their website. It was a setup pure and simple. It's all about money. http://www.johnedwards.com See for yourself. The solicitation was posted within an hour of the "confrontation". Planned like a family picnic. Once again Edwards shows himself to be the slick car salesman that he is.
