The New Era of Political Comedy Began Saturday
An Ari Gold administration

Unlike, say, Barack Obama, Saturday Night Live had no problem filling that Rahm Emanuel spot during this week's broadcast. Because although there is only one African-American cast member right now on the show, there's at least fifty Jews hanging out in the green room.

But of course they gave it to Hot Rod Andy Samberg, who's proven himself to be one of the funniest talents on the show's recent roster, despite not having a lot of political parts to play. With Rahm at least, Lorne Michaels is killing to birds with one stone: finding a place for Samberg in political satire, and honing in on a target in the upcoming White House staff that might actually be parody-able.
