The People's Politician
A Disappointed Mike Gravel Learns A 'Vote Of Confidence' Has No Bearing On The Actual Election

Former Alaska Sen. (and Democratic presidential hopeful) Mike Gravel continues to serve as a helpful reminder that honesty and politics just don't mix. When asked to asses the American people, an undaunted Gravel replied, "I'm prepared to tell you that Americans are getting fatter and dumber. I have no problem saying that."

As it turns out, however, the love flows both ways! According to the latest polls, Gravel is currently ranked 8th among the democratic candidates and holding steady at a solid last place.

Which tends to be what happens when you shower your constituents with real-world cynicism instead of talking down to them with empty campaign promises and fanciful talk about universal healthcare reform.
