Michael Piggot, the lieutenant who ordered a group of NYPD to taser a mentally ill man on a fire escape before the man fell to his death, commited suicide today. Piggot had previously been stripped of his duties following his order to taser Inman Morales, after he was found swinging a giant lightbulb around naked and screaming incoherently 10 feet above the ground. Morales then fell facefirst into the pavement and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sad days indeed, but how long do you think until this "ripped from the headlines" story becomes a plotline on of the various Law and Order incarnations?
For folks who don't know: In just the past year, there have been literally dozens–DOZENS–of controversial Taser incidents across the United States, with several of these incredibly stupid incidents involving the deaths of innocent people. Innocent in that they simply should not have died. Tasers are a failure, and everyone knows this. They do not work as intended, they are dangerous, no one knows exactly how to utilize these stupid things, they do not work, they are not a proactive weapon, they are not a good weapon, they have caused innocent deaths–DEATHS, they are somewhat facist, they are untested for how they are being used, and they have resulted in at least a dozen controversial incidents that are tying up time in courtrooms nationwide. There should be an immediate moratorium and ban on the use of Tasers by all law enforcement agencies, nationwide, at all levels, and the devices should be studied, reworked and put on a shelf until someone can figure out an alternative that does not kill innocent people and an alternative that does what they should be doing. Tasers should be put on the shelf, nationwide, immediately. Otherwise, look for more Taser tragedies, suicides, deaths, law suits, and civil payments. Is that what we want from Tasers? No, it isn't. Ban them now.
Oh wow

Wow that's a shame about the lieutenant. Now regarding Morales…I couldn't give less of a shit.
