I was working at a radio station in Tampa on 9/11/01 down the hall from the station Beck's talk show started at.
The bosses decided, because of 9/11, this was the day they should launch their plan of syndicating Beck, so they'd put him up on a bunch of AM stations around Florida, including ours.

Mid-afternoon, we switched over from CBS News coverage to Beck… who proceeded to sob his way through about 5 minutes before I went into my program director's office and said "can we get this sniveling baby off our air and get back to real news?"

Thankfully, my boss agreed with me. Too bad the rest of Clear Channel/Premiere's management, along with Headline News and now Fox News Channel didn't realize what I did–that the guy's a phony who'd sell his mother for a buck.

Mc-thingy was headed for disaster without her, but she brought him 47% of the popular vote, even when the Dems outspent the GOP two-to-one. Then she lifted Chambliss to a landslide in Georgia. She has the brains, the knowledge and the values to lead.

What is it that gets people so ANGRY about Sarah Palin? She is highly accomplished and does more in a day than most people do in their entire lives. She clearly has compassion for others and her private self is the same as her public image (she is no hypocrite when it comes to her pro-life stance. How about all the liberals blabbing about how great public education is, yet THEY SEND THEIR CHILDREN TO PRIVATE SCHOOLS?). When Palin's email account was hacked, if there had been ANYTHING remotely negative about her, it would have been all over the media. Why is is acceptable to call her a hillbilly, insult her looks, her children, etc. when OBAMA IS OFF LIMITS. Has anyone ever publicly insulted his daughters? Have comedians made fun of them? Yet young Piper Palin is routinely mocked along with Palin's newborn. I guess when the world realized they could not make fun of Obama because of his race, they had to go into overdrive on Palin.

Excellent post! I am amazed at the myopia in this country today. People with tears streaming down their faces, and media pundits choking back tears for a man who mouths vague platitudes with very little of any substance. Yet mention an accomplished woman like Palin, and it's tons of hillbilly jokes and personal insults - non stop. The whole world has gone crazy. We have no journalism anymore, just idol worship and mockery. And the people have swallowed it hook, line and sinker.

1. I didn't think a blogster could match Andrew Sullivan's obssessive vitriole about all things Palin until I read this utterly repugnant aside about a father momentarily losing his grip when he thought of his daughter who was born with cerebral palsy. In a season of leftist low blows, we may have now have a standard for journalistic knes to the groin that might not be equalled.

2. To Ken: There's good news and bad news about your brain: it's not not turning to liquid although I would consult with a neurologist, however. Ruminations about one's brain liquifying and exiting the skull through the ear is often an early symptom of mad cow disease.

3. To Mimi: McCain wanted to win but your right: on more than one occasion when Palin would leave the room, he would start dry humping a chair. It was kind of a running joke between McCain, Kissinger, and Bill Clinton. About the Obama/McCain party: unless you were McCain who is trying to rehabilitate his image, why would she want to go–particularly if she went someone like you who clearly detests her would then be asking, "Why isn't she tending business in Anchorage?"

4. Lynnrockets: keep your day job.
