The Incredible Hulk, which premieres this weekend just a few years after its most recent remake, which went down the box office crapper, is expected to perform quite nicely once all the box office receipts are counted. But don't expect any help from its star, Ed Norton — he's off on a remote island being attended to. And he won't be coming back. At least not until Universal ups his fee.
Norton and Universal, along with Hulk's Marvel Studios, are likely feuding over money after Norton was handed a script from X-Men 3 writer Zak Penn, but then went ahead to rewrite a good portion of it, adding dialogue in many places and "worked on the character of the Hulk's alter ego Bruce Banner to make him more human." And while Penn undoubtedly shaped the film, Norton is, we're imagining, taking credit for the other nuts and bolts.
But publicly acknowledging his efforts would also cost the studio another fee, so they'd rather keep the actor's contributions unknown.
Norton's not having it. So he skipped town and is relaxing on a desert island, while co-star Liv Tyler is charged with promoting the picture on her own. Meanwhile, Norton isn't signed on for a Hulk franchise, like most actors on these films are, while Tyler and director Louis Leterrier are locked in.
All this drama about a big green … over a little green.

Wow, I can't believe this bullshit story that "journalist" Nikki Finke fabricated is still being posted. Ed Norton never does a lot of publicity for his films. And if he escaped to a desert island then the premiere must have been held at this island because I'm pretty sure I saw him talking to reporters there. Go to moviefone.com and watch an "unscripted" interview between himself, Liv Tyler, and the director. Seriously, if you're going to post a bullshit story you might wanna do some research first.
You guys are a bunch of morons. Edward rarely does the "late night gig" b/c he prefers the movies to stand on their own merit, he doesn't think the actors "sell" the movie by doing those interviews. Also, he's in Africa on a humanitarian trip as he supports the Wasaii Wilderness Foundation there and visits when he can. Stop making up shit.
