If you thought the end of 2006 would bring an end to the listicle craze, think again, pal. Folio isn't letting the new year get in the way of its bullet points, unleashing a "what to expect in '07" item on the media masses. Fret not, however: This list isn't packed with much in the way of surprises, and you could probably guess half of Tony Silber's "predictions." Among them:
• "Magazine publishing won’t be how some sectors describe their businesses anymore."
• "Ad spending will continue to flow into e-media."
• "Mergers and acquisitions will continue."
• "City and regionals will stay hot."
• "B-to-b weeklies will decline and begin to fold."
• "Mass-consumer magazines will continue their decline."
• "Online-only publishers will proliferate."
Ming-boggling assertions, wouldn't you say? Just about the only media milestones Silber missed were "Donald Trump will continue using Rosie O'Donnell as a punching bag," "Seventeen readers will continue to be under age 15," and "That Don Imus guy will remain the biggest asshat in the mornings."
