Tina Fey Likens Sarah Palin to a Fictional Retarded Person

Tina Fey walked the red carpet like a champ on Sunday to pick up her Emmy. But during all of that rapid dominance coverage that still amounted to almost zero viewers, you may have missed Tina talking about the inspiration for her Sarah Palin impression on SNL's season premiere.

And nope, it's not Frances McDormand in Fargo:

Sarah Palin has a crazy voice. Not since Sling Blade has there been a person who is really easy to imitate.

(Full video here.)

Sling Blade references in 2008? The national debate just took a turn for the awesome. Here's hoping to see more of that governor/mentally handicapped impression during the ongoing season of 30 Rock.

Tina Fey has said she isn't good at impressions. So what she was saying here is that she was lucky Palin has an unusual voice because those are easier to mimic. That's why there are so many Jack Nicholson impressions - he's got a goofy voice. Say, when did Fargo come out?
