So, only days after posting excerpts of the leaked "If I Did It" manuscripts on their website, TMZ could be in some serous legal trouble.
Turns out the Goldman family (who had hoped to publish the aborted book project under the new title "Confessions of a Double Murderer" are pissed that the public may have already seen the manuscript's meatiest sections. And, since TMZ violated a court order by posting the contraband material (and may have cost the Goldmans a pretty penny in future profits) they could be facing some hefty fines down the line.
Fortunately, TMZ just happens to have a "rich daddy" named Time Warner.
Reports the Washington Post:
At an emergency hearing Wednesday, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge A. Jay Cristol said he would schedule a hearing later on whether to hold TMZ in contempt and suggested that the company, a joint venture of America Online and a Time Warner subsidiary, could eventually be held financially liable for any violation.
In other words, AOL/Time Warner could be forced to pay for TMZ's error of judgment.
When reached for comment, a TMZ spokesperson said, "Alright, fine, so we posted the frickin' manuscript. Big deal. Jeez, from the way you people are reacting, you'd think we committed a gruesome double-murder, then covered up the evidence, convinced a jury that we were set up by the cops, refused to pay up and written a tasteless 'hypothetical' confession about it. Or something."

Fred Goldman's gotta get that money somehow! MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY
