Totally Grounded Fashion Designer Karl Lagerfeld Takes A Much-Needed Stand Against Pretension
And No, For Once He's Not Talking About Himself

Sometimes, there's nothing we appreciate more than a strong dose of reality first thing in the morning. And that's exactly what we got today from perma-scowling Chanel designer (and Connaissance des Arts guest editor) Karl Lagerfeld.

According to WWD, Lagerfeld lovingly photographed his cover subject (i.e. himself) for the December issue, and made sure to inject his own "pithy quotes and barbs" after nearly every article. Not yet finished educating the plebeian masses, the Hamburg born designer also made sure to voice "strong opinions" on Surrealist and contemporary art, blasting the latter for—as he puts it—its "pretension."

Frankly, we're just glad to hear someone finally say it! Although next time, it might be nice if the progressive whistle-blower didn't come in the form of a hypocritical fashion elitist. Or at least not one who's notorious for dropping 93 pounds over 13 months then publicly lambasting H&M for catering to a plus-size populace when, as he put it, "What I designed was fashion for slender and slim people."
