It is a sign of our cynical times that in the wake of the Montauk Monster or a Steve Guttenberg revival hoax, our tendency is to question the authenticity of any spectacle. So when you hear about a lost Mozart score found in a French municipal library, your first thought should be leaning more towards "What a Da Vinci Code rip-off" instead of "They're going to have to remake Amadeus."
