In the wake of tense negotiations (or lack thereof) between Jann Wenner and Us Weekly EIC Janice Min, staffers have expressed mixed feelings about the possibility of their top girl departing. "Everyone definitely wants her to stay," one Us vet tells us. "It would be a huge loss if she left. Everyone loves her." Chimes in another: "She can't go … [the magazine] would fall apart."
But at least two long-time Us staffers who spoke to us are ready for a regime change.
"It was fine for awhile [after Bonnie Fuller left for Star], and I will say [Janice] deserves some credit for keeping Us afloat, but I think we're ready for someone new." Adds another: "That whole 'Fake News' thing was the nail in her coffin … for me at least." (Though shouldn't Jann get blamed for that one?)
Janice's contract is up on either June 29 or 30, and Jann plans on spending his summer hunting for the best yacht parking space in the Greek islands when he's not having Matt Nye layer his Sun Valley home in Pledge. The current offer on the table is rumored to be $1.2 million, and Janice is said to be holding out for more. If Jann does cave, then great: he can enjoy his extended summer holiday worry-free. That's the scenario our money is on, as we find it hard to believe Jann would let a silly set of zeros get in the way of vacay.
