Vanity Fair to Pay Ultimate Homage to Andy Warhol?

Andy Warhol

Is Graydon Carter planning a huge photo shoot dedicated to Andy Warhol for an upcoming issue? Jossip hears that Vanity Fair flew many a member of the Warhol gang to New York, down to even the legend's once-in-awhile movie co-stars like Holly Woodlawn, so the mag could shoot a huge photo spread.

Perhaps they are planning to run the big family, film, art, and music reunion in February, which would mark the 20th anniversary of Warhol's death? Of course because Warhol was a contributor to the mag (while simultaneously putting together those now-famous window designs for Bergdorf Goodman) it would make sense they would put together a little homage to the man who was the 1960's NYC staple.

Could it be Warhol's close connection to VF contributor Ingrid Sischy, who happens to now be a top editor at Interview (the mag which was founded by Warhol himself) that turned the story into the full-blown Suri-esque style shoot we've been told about? Warhol also had a relationship with celeb-stalking features editor Jane Sarkin, who also spent four years with Warhol at Interview before joining the almighty Conde Mag which. Well, whatever it is, Vanity Fair has more than good reason to put together a Warhol issue. And we expect there will be a really freakin' good bash to boot.

Beth Kseniak, executive director of public relations for Vanity Fair told Jossip that the magazine doesn't comment on future issues, blah, blah … so, of course, it's an open invitation for any of you to send in the goods.

And since we were born like 5 minutes before Andy Warhol died, there is a good chance we might lacking information on the history of this whole Warhol/Vanity Fair connection … so please feel free to send that chatter, too. Especially if it involves a Jane Sarkin/Ingrid Sishey/Edie Sedgwick cat fight.

Bob Colacello was with Andy for years and helped make Interview a name brand. He left and went to Vanity Fair in the mid-80's and wrote a big best-selling tell-all book about his time with Andy and all the rest of the Warhol players called "Warhol Up Close." That's the big connection with Warhol and Vanity Fair as Bob has stayed close with many of the former "Factory" people.
