Vanity Fair to Present A Phonebook of Original Tastelessness

Vanity Fair

Hey look, it's Vanity Fair. Now there's a magazine we haven't heard from in awhile. Did y'all know Sandra Bullock was on the cover? No? Well, in attempt to get you to buy their magazine, or at least bribe advertisers to throw some money at them, the mag is doing the only thing they know how to in the absence of first person tragic celeb sob sessions. A fashion issue! Yay!

VF's fashion and style director, Michael Roberts will collaborate with Graydon Carter on a "special Style issue" come September. And it wants to give Vogue's fall fashion issue (please, please, another Gwyneth Paltrow cover!) a run for its ad dollars.

"It will be about 50 percent style versus 50 percent regular Vanity Fair kinds of stories," said a spokeswoman for the magazine … It's kind of the first stage in what Michael will be doing at the magazine," she said. "He and Graydon are trying to do something different, that no one else is doing."

Who is this spokeswoman and what the fuck is she talking about? What are "regular Vanity Fair kinds of stories?" Those with Michael Wolff insulting everyone but his own mother? A listicle of young up-and-comers who we already know about but VF thinks they discovered? But, maybe she's right. Few magazines have attempted to cover couture and war in the same issue. Mostly because (in the same way they didn't have a red carpet at the 2003 Oscars) it's considered tacky.
