The film "Pride and Glory" starring Edward Norton, Collin Farrel and John Voight appears to be in trouble. The film was originally shot in early 2006, but has been the subject of constant editing and re-editing for the past two and half years. After several missed deadlines, it is expected for release in October of 2008.
The main issue surrounding the film appears to be related to the film's female lead, Lake Bell, who worked for scale yet was originally expected to be above the line. The films' producers originally cast her as a cheap alternative for a female lead to star alongside established male actors. The assumption was that Norton, Farrel and Voight could carry the movie irrespective of the lead female. However, Bell's on screen performance and interaction with Norton, Voight and Farrel has shown to be so unappealing that the film's producers made the decision to cut most of her scenes out of the film - which in turn has entailed dramatic changes in the film's original story line and thousands of hours of additional editing. As a result, what was originally a cost saving measure has proved to be an enormous financial expense…..Casting directors take notice…..
