White Beauty In A Bottle?
Just like Dove aired those inane mini-soap operas starring Alicia Keys earlier this year, another brand owned by Unilever, Pond’s, is airing soap opera-esque commercials to promote products in India. But unlike those boring Keys spots, the Pond’s ads, for a product called White Beauty, have sparked major protests.
White Beauty is certainly not the first skin lightening product with commercial that shocks us westerners, but the premise of the three-part soap opera ad — a man leaves a darker-skinned woman for a fair-skinned woman, causing the former girlfriend to lighten her skin to win him back — has a lot of people talking about color complexes in India. It helps that the three actors in the ads are big Bollywood stars.

#1 Those women are already light skin.
#2 Indians can't admit that they are black. They worship white skin and will kill themselves to get it. A woman killed herself because her husband called her black. I am not kidding either.
#3 They were colonized by the British and because of this cast system, they were able to keep the darker Indians suppressed. No different than in the U.S. and South AMerica. This same mentality is prominent in Central and OSuth America to this day. People who are visibly light skin Africans consider themselves white in places like Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and Columbia..
#4 Mexico is as bad or worst. There were almost 1 million Mexican slaves that blended into Mexican society. Darker Mexicans are treated like garbage and the TV stars are all blond with blue eyes whether naturally or with help.
These problems will persist with low selfesteem and this need to be white will prevail because when someone sees that black people are considered below human, who would have pride in that?
But if only they knew the truth and understood their history - Perhaps they would feel better about themselves.
It is beyond sad..
Hey Marilyn and Jessica (the two trolls who left the preceding posts) Indians are not ashamed to "admit" they are black. All Indians are proud of their heritage. I am sure the two of you are ugly as sin because your posts certainly are as ugly as sin. I bet you spend Friday nights aqueezing your zits in your mirror and feeding your fat ass ben and jerry's while stroking your hairy private parts. Shame on you.
And I would like to add that your posts also prove what idiots you are. The British did not create the caste system or the focus on color in India. The caste system and the focus on color preceded the British by thousands of years as the Aryans settled India from the north and the Dravidians (who are darker) already settled India in the south.
Darker Mexicans are not treated as garbage. The leading Mexican politicians and business people (including every Mexican billionaire) is of native descent.
You are also a hypocrite. The obsession with complexion in India is no different from the BILLIONS of dollars that American women (most of whom are fat asses) spend each year to turn dark hair blonde or brown and brown eyes blue or green.
I am a natural blonde with green eyes and live in NYC where less than one tenth of one percent of adults are true blondes. It is so ridiculous how women claim to be blonde but are anything but.
(AND Marilyn Monrovia and Jessica are also obviously the same person because that person used the same exact words in some lines and the same stilted poor diction and inability to express themselves clearly in the English language.
Those Bollywood movies are hysterical. All the stars are light and the help are dark.. lol
Oprah had promised Aishwayra Rai to do a show about it because Oprah was disturbed by the skin bleaching.
Very very sad!
