Fashion Week continued Saturday night with the Rock and Republic runway show and afterparty, both of which I was luckily enough to attend.
This was my first time to visit the Bryant Park tents, and it was insanely overwhelming: There were swarms of people pushing past me in an effort to get to the show on time. Except, of course, the show started almost an hour late. We were herded like cattle into an area behind the seats where we could hardly see the runway, but it didn't matter: I was at Fashion Week, and you simply couldn't beat the atmosphere.
During the long wait, multiple celebs (including Sophia Bush and Joss Stone) jumped up on the runway to get their pictures taken by the line of paparazzi waiting to hound anyone recognizable. In the front row — and in my line of sight — were Nigel Barker, Damien Fahey and Tyson Beckford.
The show featured a U-shaped runway with a live band in the middle playing Beatles songs. Clothing-wise, there was nothing incredibly innovative (to me, at least), but I found a few outfits I would kill to own, including the most beautiful purple dress.

After the show, my plus-two and I ventured to the Meatpacking District for the afterparty at 1OAK. The party was very exclusive — they double checked to make sure your name was on the list — and hosted many of the celebs that had been in attendance at the show. Most of them stayed in the roped off VIP section.
Unlike the other party, this one featured a full open bar all evening. We enjoyed the champagne and atmosphere that seemed surprisingly not that pretentious. Many of the models were in attendance too, and I overheard one confess that she hadn't eaten all day. Shocking, right?
Then Tyson Beckford made his way to the dance floor, at which point my friends and I asked for a picture. He shot us down: "I don't want to end up on MySpace." He proceeded to spend the rest of the evening turning down photo ops with fans and making sure nobody got too close to him. Oh, and he stood around texting. A lot.

Naturally, we made it our mission to take as many pictures with him in the background as we could. Because, seriously, he could have stayed in the VIP section and done all that stuff without being hounded. And maybe then he wouldn't have ruined Tyson Beckford for us. It's like finding out Santa Claus isn't real.

this is exactly why when there isn't an event, they would not let you into 1oak.
