Who Wants To Be The Next Barack Obama?

Today's "Question of the Day," brought to you by the investigative team over at the New York Observer, tackles a hard-hitting question pertaining to three of our favorite topics: racial equality, the Democratic primaries and, of course, Kenan Thompson. The quandary? When whitewashed Saturday Night Live is down to only one black cast member, and that cast member (Thompson) is also morbidly obese, just who will play slender presidential wannabe, Barack Obama?

Answer: Nobody knows.

And while possible long-term solutions include bolstering the cast with more racially diverse additions (or firing the KKK as casting director) at present, SNL and Lorne Michaels appear to be at a bit of a loss.

Thankfully, 'The Ladies Man' (a.k.a. missing and presumed dead SNL alum, Tim Meadows) has a couple of tips for how Kenan could "make it work!"

Like, for instance, this speech:

“‘Hi, I’m Barack Obama. I just want to explain I’ve had a bad reaction to some medication and I’ve put on an extra 280 pounds.’” Or maybe this: “‘Before I do the State of the Union address, I have to admit that over the holiday season, I ate a little too much. I will be working this off.’”

Ah, droll comedy at its finest…

Meanwhile, while SNL contemplates the moral, ethical and societal implications of having a Caucasian actor portray Obama, veteran cast member Maya Rudolph is already rehearsing for her roles as Barbara Streisand, Lucy Liu, Diana Ross, JLo and Mario Vasquez.
