So who's the CNN human resources head that Early Show No. 2 Michael Rosen is marrying? She's Jane Caplan, and her reputation certainly precedes her.
We're told that on more than one occasion, Caplan allegedly has interviewed CBS staffers looking for a new gig at CNN, and then passed that information back the tiffany network, where Rosen would have a chance to either a) fire the CBS staffer; b) trash the staffer's reputation at CNN, thus killing any chance they could be hired away. One horror story retold to us went down exactly like Scenario B. But interestingly, another source says Caplan's information trading scored them promotions, having been able to leverage the wrongdoings into better jobs. (Neither Caplan nor Rosen responded to requests for comment.)
But don't think the Rosen-Caplan duo is the only information funnel that has CBS types worried.
We've also heard that Barbara Fedida, the tiffany network's talent VP, allegedly left her old job at ABC News' business affairs unit with one very crucial piece of data: contacts and salary spreadsheets listing exactly who is where and how much they're earning. (Fedida also didn't respond to a request for comment.)
"The joke is that she kept her old ABC extension," says a well-placed insider. (Naturally there's no way for us to independently verify this, so we'll treat the possibility of such a theft as pure speculation.)
One story we've been told has Fedida allegedly using that salary information during hiring negotiations at CBS, which would enable her to know exactly how much potential hires have been earning, and how much they've inflated their salaries while trying to score a job at CBS. As you might imagine, tactics like this would leave Fedida's reputation with talent agents looking something nasty.
But we wouldn't want to leave this post on a bad note. So here's a link to Rosen and Caplan's Bloomingdale's wedding registry. The ceremony is June 14, so you've got just two weeks to place your order. They still need five "ABYSS EUROPEAN TOWELS INC LINE RESIDENCE BATH TOWEL WHITE."

Wow…this is so like my multi-campused hospital gig…yet less glamorous.
The story may or may not be true, but in any event broadcast news is too small a world to think you can get away with interviewing for a rival without anyone finding out. CNN's New York headquarters are mere blocks away from CBS, in the same building as Whole Foods! Anyone could see one walk out of the CNN entrance and assume one was interviewing there.
