Have you heard? Presidential hopeful (and former Gov.) Mike "The 'Compassionate Conservative'" Huckabee apparently isn't so compassionate after all! At least, not towards our gay brethren, whom he would love to see rounded up, deported to some remote island and summarily abandoned/destroyed. That is, if he's elected president.

NOW (Huckabee clarifies his stance on Don't Ask, Don't Tell):
I agree with the leadership of our military, who believe it is not in the best interest of the armed forces to have homosexuals serving on active duty. I believe to try to legitimize that which is inherently illegitimate would be a disgraceful act of government. I feel homosexuality is an aberrant, unnatural and sinful lifestyle, and we now know it can pose a dangerous public health risk.

Are you implying that homosexuality IS natural? Give me a break. There's nothing natural about it. And let's face it–the primary carriers of AIDS are homosexuals. Naturally, straight people can contract it and so can IV drug users, but the primary contingent is among gays.
Another example of an idiot Republican trying to pander to his bigot base. In 2007, it's hard to believe somebody running for public office could be this ignorant. To suggest that HIV carriers be quarantined is an outrageous statement. To allow someone with such an obvious aversion to an entire minority to become a front runner in the upcoming primary is just pathetic. But that's politics…
I really hope he gets the Republican nomination - I can't wait to watch the debates between him and lets say Hillary Clinton…Her trek to the Whitehouse would be that much easier.
