First they took away our late night shows, then they took away our sitcoms. Then they gave us back our late night shows, but now they might be taking away our self-congratulatory events.
That’s right, the Golden Globes, the big shit award show until the Oscars come, might be canceled due to “internet royalties” and this damn writers strike.
The deal is if the writers pickets the Golden Globes, then “the good people” actors like George Clooney would feel totally awk attending. And George Clooney doesn’t need to scab to remind people how good he looks in a tux. People, and People, will remember.
Right now, the only way the WGA won’t picket the awards is if the Golden Globes goes on as a live show, without a broadcast or Webcast. But duh, the broadcast (ad revenue) is the whole point.
And worst of all, Steven Spielberg was supposed to be honored this year. As his spokesman said, “Of all the years, it has to happen this year.”
God, when you put it that way. Steven Spielberg is so rarely honored by the industry and public’s appreciation of mediocrity.
Guys, seriously, can’t you work this out for him? He made Schindler's List, that Holocaust movie that made the goys cry.

Last time I checked writers were honored at GG too. It's not about awards, it's about politics.
If Spielberg is mediocrity than what is this site? Garbage? Garabage's garbage? I think I'm going to go ahead and have a shower after visiting this place.
I like my award shows, but I like my sitcoms, dramas, and sketch comedy better. And who am I to thank for these lovelies? Primarily the writers and the actors I'd say. And the writers are striking, and if it wasn't them it would be the actors, but their union contract isn't up for renewal. So I say the writers do what they need to do, the execs play nice and give up a bit of their excessive fortune to the people they'd have no show without, and the strike ends. And maybe Steve gets a nice little trophy or whatever, though I'm not really concerned about that. And the golden globes can be skipped if necessary, but please let us have the Oscars.
I like my award shows just fine, thank you. They're the one time of the year when people actually notice the few GOOD films that were made. Atonement anyone? No? Too busy watching National Treasure I suspect.
