In case you slept in today, The Post published a cartoon likening the crazed, dead chimp upstate with the guy who created our stimulus plan (otherwise known as Barack Obama). It's totally messed up. But our real concern lies with how The New Yorker plans to retaliate with something even more scandalous and offensive, in order to keep its top spot for "Most Dumbfoundingly Ignorant-Bordering-On-Racism Cartoon About the Obamas."

On what planet does this boarder in racist????? Seems viciously racist to me.
Watch Al Sharpton's interview today on MSNBC about the cartoon here:
http://gotchamedia.blogspot.co.....rtoon.html
Beyond the racist element it is bizarre to me that the brutal attack by the chimpanzee(who ripped a woman's face off) and the subsequent death of the chimpanzee is the basis for a joke.
The New York Post is claiming the brutal injury to the woman and death of the chimpanzee is some basis for comedy? or even parody? that is equally disgusting as the rascist element.
If its any consolation the New York Post is a complete joke.
They fake their subscription rates in order to cheat advertisers.
They cant even give it away: every morning on the way to work there are people at each corner begging people to take free copies.
Some people read it for the sports….some for the funny headlines…but nothing else. It is losing money but somehow Murdoch wants to keep it afloat.
@Rhonda: I know you posted that for attention so I will give you a little. Get your life together, being a hateful racist is no way to live.
Disagreed. They are saying that the stimulus package could have been written by a chimp —not that black people are chimps or that Obama is chimp-like. But it's still bad judgment: the Post should have known it would be misinterpreted in this twisted way.
Getreal
calling people racist is really lame and getting real boring. You had no problem calling Bush names, if you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen. That's a quote from Harry Truman a democrat. Karma, baby. What goes around, comes around. Grow up, it's a jungle out there. :)
Obama didn't write the stimulus bill, CONGRESS DID. And it will take more than two bullets to kill that chimp. (also an insult to all chimps, everywhere)
Oh the Liberal media attacked the Mesiah and you are all outraged? Get with the program folks, the whipping boy Bush is gone, let the new one take his palce!
@Rhonda: I never called Bush names. I don't know if you hear voices in your but I don't believe in personal attacks against the president.
I think making jokes about it being a jungle out there after a post comparing a black person to monkey is clearly racist. If you think is boring then conduct your self better. The angry vicious tone of your posts is a reflection of how you feel about yourself and how happy you are. You sound bitter and angry why not channel that anger into something more positive.
@Rhonda: Oh and telling someone you have never met before You had no problem calling Bush names" makes you sound crazy. We have never conversed or corresponded not all people conduct themselves in the same way.
for the record, do a "Bush as chimp" google search and see the many many leftists "jokes" on the other side of the glass house:
I could go on and on… funny, huh?
@fanofgrendel: It is just as inappropriate. So I'm not in a glass house because I am able to debate the issues without making personal attacks. As an intelligent person I can express my views rationally without malice. I don't need to use gutter tactics.
I think the Bush/Chimp comparison was because the IQ's were so similiar.
I want to make it clear that is not a personal attack against any chimp.
Getreal
Getreal the PC queen.:) Have you received your halo and wings yet? Or your union card yet? LOL How come Libs no longer enjoy satire? I'll bet your a regular watcher of "the view" and whoopi is your philosophical hero.
Let me be clear, I feel Obama is a fraud, corrupt and a liar, I will not shut-up because the color of his skin.
@uncle walt: could not resit, could you. Bet you like this one too.
Like it?
Bet you don't like it:
Not funny if it hits someone you like.
Just mean.
@Rhonda: I'm not PC I just believe in treating others and myself with respect. Some of us were raised with morals and ideals doesn't make us saints just normal people. Clearly these are concepts that are difficult for you to understand. I understand that you "feel" he is a fraud because like most people who feel the need to persecute this guy it is based on feelings not facts. If you want to delude yourself about why you hate the guy that is your right. Just because you feel something does not mean it is true although you have a right to your opinion. I never asked you to shut-up I just asked you to treat people with a modicum of respect where I come from that is just good old fashion American values not saintly behavior clearly we come from different backgrounds. Your message would be heard better if you tried to sound more rational and less hysterical. Be well
@fanofgrendel: I know you are trying to be funny but I think that is really disrespectful. You may not agree with his policies but he was our president and deserves respect. Just my opinion.
I think the whole "bush or chimp" thing took off because, in some pics, HE ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE A CHIMP. and yes, there's the whole IQ thing, too.
while I do believe that the Post did mean that the bill was so lame it could have been written by a monkey, it was open to misinterpretation and they should have known that. Plus, as Tony the Tiger pointed out, using a vicious attack on a woman by a monkey as parody is also in bad taste, regardless of the racial implications of the cartoon.
And thank you, JJM at #9, for holding to the handbook for GOP arguments.
1) call Obama "the messiah"
2) make a reference to having "drunk the kool-aid" (I counted at least two in this thread…way to follow the handbook, guys and girls!)
3) claim that Obama is not a US citizen because he hasn't shown us his birth certificate yet
4) complain about the main stream media but don't acknowledge that Fox is PART of the msm…
5) berate Obama for his performance after three weeks in office but ignore the fact that the previous admin FUCKED OUR COUNTRY UP THE ASS for the past 8 years
6) when called out for bias, lie and say that "I'm actually a democrat but I look at things objectively" and then repeat your criticisms of Obama
7) pretend you're offended when the other side uses a bad word or insult, but then do the same thing once you think they've forgotten about it
8) throw out a celebrity's name as if they are representative of the entire democratic party
9) deflect the argument with something else, claim victory, and flee the thread.
and Rhonda, dear…there is a difference btwn satire and racism. or simple bad taste. even if you overlook the whole racial aspect of this cartoon, it was STILL in bad taste because of WHAT the cartoon was parodying. it's not political correctness, or acting angelic, it's having simple common sense and the ability to discern between what's in good taste and what's not. And thank you for following step #8 in the GOP handbook for arguments. Whoopi Goldberg? really?
@anon: the Dem list is more simple:
1) blame Bush
2) insult Bush
3) blame Bush some more
4) insult Bush some more
5) take break and say "We are superior 3 times"…go back to (1)
Here is another chimp shot for those thinkin' they are funny:

@anon: Anon as usual breaks it down. Take that bitter peeps!
well, fanofgrendel, if the blame is deserved…
he had 8 years, and fucked up our country pretty badly.
but I applaud your efforts to try to be humorous by hi-jacking an accurate characterization and putting an inaccurate twist on it.
it's better than your usual misogynistic garbage.
@anon: why thanks, I'm starting to get fond of you. Trying very hard produce better garbage.
So, one chimp = a group of congress members? Please….
@steeky: You have a point. Two chimps should have been used. One for the Democrat House caucus and one for the Senate caucus.
Not sure which is which.
Listen I really do not care who writes these things about our wonderful President Barack Obama. People could say what ever they want about our wonderful President Barack Obama beacuse he still is going to be the President of United States of America. Ha Ha Ha, So who ever wrote that stupid remark about the monkey and the bill, I do not hate you, I just feel really sorry for the person who raised you and put the negative things inside your head. Here you are a very talanted person with hate in your heart. Remember this, that remark you made will forever remain with you and will oneday come back to haunt you. You better believe it. God Bless.
